My Wedding in Mexico (with Cinco de Mayo Ideas)

mexico21

Cinco de Mayo is absolutely one of my favorite holidays! I love the idea of a fiesta and the spirit of the holiday in general – especially the excuse to drink margaritas. Can you blame me?

While many of us focus on the excitement of the day, it is important to remember the real reason to celebrate. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The holiday is celebrated not only in Mexico, but also in the US.

After being married in Mexico in March 2014, I have a first had experience with promotional items that go along with this theme, as I incorporated many of them throughout my wedding weekend. We started with a logo that the Motivators Art Team Leader, Keri, created for us. Once we had the logo, we tried to incorporate that into everything we did. It all came together really nicely from the welcome bag, to the shot glasses and even the beach balls! Okay, so maybe I went overboard, but I had a great time doing it and wouldn’t change a thing!

Maracas

One of the most popular signs of a fiesta is the maraca! They come in awesome colors and from a promotional products perspective, they have a large imprint area. We had maracas made with our logo and attached place cards to them for our Friday Night Beach Party. Instead of using a standard place card, our guests were greeted with Margaritas and a maraca. Sounds like a great combo to me! Our guests loved them (see above) and even removed the name and table tag, and danced the night away with maracas on the beach. Not only are these a great take-away, but they can also be used as décor for your Cinco de Mayo celebration! When our guests left them on the tables, they added that extra pop of color!

Lens Tek Sunglasses

Another great way to spice up a party is with these Lens Tek Sunglasses (seen above). Since they can be imprinted with full color art, the options are endless. The best part is that both lenses don’t have to match which gives you even more imprinting space. We decided to write “I {heart} A&E.” Our guests wore them all weekend long. We also used these at our Beach Party and each guest had one at his/her place setting. Order them in assorted colors and let your guests pick and choose. These are also a great addition to photo booth fun!

If you really want to “wow” your guests, gift them the Williams-Sonoma Mexican Cookbook. Not only can you imprint on the front cover of this book, but there is the option to add a full color promo-page to the front of the book. We used these in our Welcome Bags, to tell our guests just how appreciative we were that they traveled so far to attend our wedding. They came out so amazing and our guests are still talking about them – and will be using them as they celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year! Who doesn’t love a good guacamole recipe?

Overall, you can get really creative when ordering promotional items. If you think outside the box, they can be used in more ways that you originally thought. I love incorporating them into the décor and overall look and feel of my parties. They add something special and the custom imprint is everlasting! Planning an event or hosting a party? Be creative!
