With global warming being such a huge focus in the upcoming elections, and movies like An Inconvient Truth, it's hard not to see the imapct everywhere. Now this isn't exactly a promotional product, but it's interesting none the less. The petition has with it a custom pen made to look like a thermometer.

I can't do hats. And working in the promotional products industry, we get plenty of hats. Imprinted hats are classic promotional items and everyone loves them. But really, I hate them. My head doesn't like them and I hate the fact that I can't wear them, because we have some really awesome ones. So I'm pushing for Motivators visors. I don't feel stupid when I wear them. I've gotten compliments like, "Suprisingly enough that doesn't make you look like you have a weird shaped head!" While I don't have a weird shaped head, I still take that as a compliment.

Two weeks ago, I recieved a promotional visor and I love it. It'd great for when I'm driving and it's comfortable too! Plus, I get the satisfaction of wearing something on my head and not feeling like I look horrible!

I know nothing about fishing. I know that I love Red Lobster, but I really am not that interested in catching the fish and doing all the leg work before eating it. It slightly creeps me out to know that a few hours before I'm eating something, it had a head. So I "trust the Gordon's Fisherman" to do that for me. For example, I have this steering wheel key chain on my car keys and everyone always laughs at me when they see it, because the logo says Lexus and my car is clearly not a Lexus. I'm also a big fan of flip flops and I believe that everyone should have a bottle opener on them. My dream was realized when I saw this flip flop bottle opener key chain. It's a big summer giveaway and a hit with many of the ladies in our office.

Beach Towels!

My younger cousin goes to the same day camp that I did when I was younger, and every year they "initiate" kids into their 5 Year Club. They usually spray the camp with shaving cream or whipped cream, make them sing the camp's song and then hose them down. While it seems silly, it was much worse than when I went there. Think standing in ice water, eggs being cracked over the head and reciting a sonnet. But while the law has cracked down significantly, the camps promotional products remain the same. I recently moved to another office in our building and the one thing I didn't take with me from my desk was my motivators mousepad. It's this Ergo-Gel Mouse Pad and I didn't realize until I stopped using it just how amazing it is. I use my mouse all day long, sometimes more than I use my keyboard. My wrist kills me some days, so I really enjoy the comfort it provides. The ergonomical support it provides doesn't seem like much, but it really does make a difference!

I recently purchased a new BBQ. This was a pretty big deal since I've never had one before, but it was on sale so I figured I'd splurge! It arrived yesterday. The wonderful guys from PC Richards set it up for me and a friend came over and showed me the basics. I'm not exactly a culinary whiz and grilling always kind of left me with the notion that if I try it, I'll end up with burnt kabobs and no eyebrows. But, so far I've done well. The best thing was that the BBQ came with it's own set of tools as a gift with purchase. Granted it was only a 3 piece set, but I didn't have anything at my house. It was perfect! Tongs, a large fork and a spatula made my very first grilling experience perfect!

The Cinco De Mayo Promotional Recap!

So this past Saturday was the fun and festive holiday of Cinco de Mayo, which for many liquor and alcohol companies is a huge promotional day. At my favorite Mexican restaurant, On the Border, the place was packed. There had to be at least 300 people there and there were definitely enough promotions to go around. From imprinted necklaces to imprinted bottle openers, everything was being given away for free and people were clamoring for giveaways. Just this morning when I walked into work, Mike in the art department mentioned that he got an imprinted t shirt sponsored by a alcohol company and I replied that I had gotten a visor from the same company!

But I think most sucessful Cinco De Mayo promotion is a tie between Corona and Tequila Corazon. Corona handed out custom imprinted bottle koozies that were basically like ponchos for your beer. They were adorably cute and you only got one if you ordered a Corona. It was custom and different, and it was awesome. My second promotional favorite was a metal keychain handed out by Tequila Corazon. With it you were given a custom wallet card with various drink recipes on it. My friend tried one of them and loved it! So there's two examples of sucessful Cinco De Mayo promotions!

Drink Water!

While Yahoo news published a study about how much water you are supposed to drink and debated the age old theory that people are supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day, it's still a good idea to drink plenty of water through out the day. Friends of mine who've successfully lost weight, always say the same thing: switching from soda to water always makes the biggest difference. Too much water (like 15 gallons in an hour) can result in death, but I'm going to advise against that. But water is good for you! So bring it with you to the gym, to the office and in the car! The more water you drink a day, the healthier you'll be! The best way to do that is to not spend money every day on bottled water. So provide employees and customers with a healthy and cost effective alternative, with a poly carbonate water bottle. They're extremely popular. I just saw a bottle similar to this one being sold at Starbucks.

So seeing as how my coworker was just the unfortunate victim of "drippage", I decided to blog about promotional koozies! What's "drippage" you ask? Driving down the road the other day, I was extremely excited to see a sign by the town beach announcing the annual Memorial Day Fireworks. It was a tradition to go with my family and friends when I was younger but I haven't been in about 7 or 8 years. I always have such great memories at the fireworks. Last night, I was talking to a friend of mine who happened to go camping in Mexico over the weekend. My first reaction was pure jealousy, because I want to go camping in Mexico. Granted he lives in Arizona, but still that's a pretty awesome trip. After thinking about that for a while, I decided that I want to go camping. Mexico would be nice, but I don't foresee that happening in the near future. I've never been camping probably because I'm not really the outdoors type. I don't like dirt or bugs, but that's what tents are for right? But I was thinking about what essentials I would bring on a camping trip and while I would love to be ridiculous and say my iPod, my cell phone, my hair straightener, I know the point is to just be away and get back to nature.
