Cancer Research Creates Sculptures From Ashtrays

When smoking was banned in every bar, club, and restaurant in the UK on July 1st, 2007 surely some people were upset. However, Cancer Research saw an opportunity. Their advertising agency created custom donation bags to collect glass ashtrays, which were then melted down and turned into sculptures. The sculptures were sold on eBay to raise money for cancer research. As long as there was a large amount of advertising promoting both the collection and the auction, this should have worked well. And I suppose I can forgive the fact that they used plastic bags to collect the ash trays. After all, the vases are made from recycled material, so I suppose that makes up for the fact that they didn't use promotional eco-friendly bags.
