Boxing Belt CD Promotion

The sport of boxing is extremely popular down in Brazil, so creatives at Gruponove Comunicação Advertising Agency came up with this unique promotion. A promotional cd preloaded with advertising materials for retail shopping stores. It's a fun promotion that incorporates the technology into the deign of the product. While custom USB flash drives would have done the same trick and given recipients a useful tool, this still worked perfectly.

Burger King Wallet Promotion

This has to be one of the coolest promotions I have ever seen. Burger King has dropped some wallets in key locations across the country and inside is quite the surprise for anyone who finds them. Burger King has put all the promotional touches on the wallets, including a custom drivers license belonging to the King himself, a Burger King Gift Card, a map of local area Burger Kings and even cash!

Each wallet can contain money ranging from $1 to $100. And of course there are instructions inside telling people to keep the wallets.

With today's tight economy it's certainly not surprising that this promotion worked well for Burger King. Everybody loves getting something for free, hence the reason that promotional products are always a hit with recipients.

Making the impossible...possible

Coke Zero proclaims that it's everything you love about coke with zero the calories. While it's hard to believe that any light/diet soda can make that claim and have it actually be true, Coke decided with their latest promotion to make the impossible...possible. They created a custom three sided foosball table, thus allowing three people to play at once. It seems like an impossible feat, but it's not.

Promotional products can make anything possible apparently. However, Coke Zero? Totally not the same as regular coke.

Corporate Gift Giving Tip #4: Don't Delay

Thanksgiving is officially 6 days away, which means that one week from today is Black Friday. While electronics giants like Best Buy gear up for the mother of all sales and thousands of consumers prepare themselves for the world's most famous push and shove, the one thing that remains constant is time. And it's quickly running out.

When purchasing a corporate gift, especially a corporate gift you want to be imprinted with a holiday message, you have to allow for time. If you're the main decision maker when it comes to the holiday gifts, that's great but others need to have gifts approved by management. Choosing the gift takes time and sometimes it can be the most time consuming part of the process.

Next step is the proofing process, which can be a quick one if you have the artwork in the right format ( vectored EPS file) and know exactly what you want your message to say. But occasionally our wonderful art team may have some suggestions. And again, if you're one of those people that need approval from higher-ups, this adds more time. Then you've got to account for production and shipping...

The good news is that Motivators is offering Free 1 Day and 3 Day Rush Production on items from some of our most well-known brands. Bulletline, Leeds, Prime and Gemline items apply to this deal. Just check out our Free Holiday Rush section and look for the pop-up below.

Corporate Gift Giving Tip #3: Mind over Matter

Some people have the habit of shopping for themselves when they shop for others. "I would love that" equates to "They would love that." And that's how wives end up with football jerseys and husbands are treated to the quintessential spa kit for him.

While shopping habits are hard to break, they should never be incorporated into the search for the perfect corporate gift. In fact, the one thing that's most important in choosing is thinking before you buy.

Consider the impression your gift will make on recipients. While you may love a wine gift set, your client may not feel the same way. And just because you have the latest and greatest techno stuff, doesn't mean that everyone else does also. So shop smart and shop simple. Choose items, like corporate apparel or promotional bags that can be used by anyone who receives them.

Corporate Gift Giving Tip #2: Keep a List and Check it Twice

One of Santa Claus' infamous rules applies in the corporate gift giving world as well. Keep a master list of all clients and employees who will be recieving corporate holiday gifts. If it's too long, trim it down. Remember the more people you have to buy for, the less money you have to spend per person.

One helpful tip for corporate gift giving: check with the HR departments of all your clients firms and make sure they are allowed to receieve them. If they're not, you won't be wasting money on a gift. And if they're not allowed to accept gifts, be sure to send them a card so that they'll still know you care.

Corporate Gift Giving Tip #1: Sending the Right Message

With the holiday season in full swing already (t-minus 11 days til Black Friday!), it's not surprising that everyone has been looking for the perfect corporate gifts. And whether your client gifts will be luxury corporate gifts or holiday budget busters, it's still important to send a card. Hand written notes always give gifts a more personal feel, so take the time to write one out and include it with the package. And if you've got a cool business card, be sure to include that too!

Don't Touch That

In theory, this promotion could have worked if it wasn't so gross. The company is called Modern Shoe Hospital. Hospitals use Band-Aids. It's a Band-Aid for your shoe. In theory, it's perfect. In actuality, it's disgusting.

A band-aid is by far the most disgusting, dirty thing an individual can ever step one. Gum is gross and sticky but Band-Aids can carry disease. It's like picking up a used hypodermic needle and reading the imprint. No one in their right mind would do that.

I say, keep the promotional band-aid idea, but clean it up a little. Why not have shoe polishers distribute promotional bandage dispensers? Or why not add a bandage dispenser to a pair of new shoes? But the actual promotional band-aid idea? No.

    Get Ready for Twilight

It's a classic tale. Vampire boy falls in love with girl. Throw in something about a werewolf and you've got yourself the best selling novel (soon to be movie) from author Stephanie Myers. The book has been a hit with teenagers and adults across the country. So when somethings a hit, you know there's going to be promotional products galore. Actually walk into any Hot Topic or Claire's Boutique, and you'll see the true signs of it. Here are some good ones.

    Twilight promotional buttons...

Female fans who are of the driving age can thoroughly frighten other motorists with this promotional license plate frame.

One of the biggest things that has happened since the books has been the fans choosing sides. Do they prefer Edward Cullen the vampire or Jacob the Werewolf? If you've run into any shirts, buttons or facebook flairs that read Team Edward or Team Jacob, that's what that means. You can even profess your love with a promotional mouse pad.

There's plenty more twilight promotional products out there, but I'll leave it up to you to find them. I barely understand any of these things, but I'm a fan of anything that brings out interesting promotional products.

    Run to the Shower...

I'm a big fan of these promotional signs that were created by Nivea's advertising agency. The sign is large enough to be seen from a distance, the design is simple and attractive. They were held up along the sidelines at the Women's Run in Switzerland to give the appearance that all the runners were headed to the showers to use Nivea Lemongrass and Oil Body Wash. It's the kind of promotion that makes you go "Ohhhhhhhh, that's funny."

Nivea's been very good with promoting their products with interesting marketing tactics. I blogged previously about the Nivea promotional umbrellas they put up at a beach to promote their sunscreen. Promotional products can go a long way if used correctly, and Nivea seems to be getting it right.

    More adTech NY Schwag...

Here are some great promotional messenger bags created by AdManage, a new pay per click advertising service that caters to both ad publishers and advertisers themselves. Clearly, they get the benefits of advertising with promotional products because they chose to give out these promotional messenger bags. Yellow and black were chose to match the company's colors and it worked well. The attractive design, coupled with the bright color is sure to get the company's logo recognized. They can even work in a pinch, if the company has leftovers and needs some cheap corporate gifts. Throw in a promotional t-shirt, and maybe some other promotional products and the holiday shopping is done!

    How Do Ad Agencies Advertise?

I came across some fun pictures on Flickr from adtech New York, which is THE event for digital marketing. While it's time to be focusing on luxury corporate gifts and client gifts, it's never too early to start planning for the upcoming trade show season. Here's just a few things that marketing professionals and ad agencies are handing out as their trade show giveaways.

This company chose to give out custom imprinted iPod accessories, speakers in this case. Somewhat pricey for a trade show giveaway, but I wish I had them on my desk at the moment.

Not surprising, that this company chose to give out football stress balls. Football themed promotions seem to always be a popular giveaway this time of year.

With the economy the way it's been, it's also not surprising that people are giving out dollar sign stress balls.

So take a tip from the professionals on your next trade show giveaways. These guys clearly know what they're doing.

    Weeds Promotes with Weed

Great promotion done in Sweden to promote the popular television show Weeds. The show stars Mary Louise Parker as a suburban mom who runs a little side business selling pot, so the advertising agency sent bouquets of hemp plants (minus the THC) wrapped up to look like joints. It's funny, it's clever and it's an attention grabber.

Chances are this promotion cost a pretty penny, especially since sending a bouquet of flowers is normally expensive! As far as finding fitting promotional products that could advertise this show for a cheaper price, I think I'm going to leave that one alone. This promotion works, plain and simple. And now I'm intrigued to see what on earth they could possibly use for corporate holiday gifts!

It's Election Day! Are You Voting?

In honor of the fact that by the end of the day, the U.S. will have elected it's 44th president, Motivators would like to highlight the importance of elections. Of course they're important for the obvious reasons, but here's a little known fact: the very first promotional products date back to 1789. They were commemorative buttons and they were created during the election of George Washington.

Since then, election campaigns have been one of the biggest sources of promotional products. Promotional t-shirts, yard signs, hats and stickers are usually mass produced for candidates. This weekend, I stopped off at a friend's house and she showed me perhaps the creepiest promotional product I've ever seen. They were custom flip flops and she had 2 pairs. One pair were for McCain and one pair was for Obama. And this is what they look like.

Regardless of who you vote for or what flip flop you choose to favor, promotional products have always played an important part in the election process. And just look, promotional pins are still around.

Promotional Pizza Boxes Teach Students a Lesson

Did you know that Canada is the number 1 exporter of mushrooms to the United States? It's true. Over 94% of the U.S.'s mushrooms come from Canada. And I learned this helpful little fact from this promotional pizza box. The data (and the printing) were courtesy of The Economist and the target demographic was college students in the Philadelphia region. Granted students do eat a lot of pizza, but what are the chances that they'll remember what the pizza box says? Peronally, giving out a promotional pizza cutter would be much more beneficial. They can use it over and over again, and the message will remain. Obviously, more expensive to choose a promotional pizza cutter, but more helpful regardless.
