National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th according to the American Nurses Association (ANA). The purpose of this week-long celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of Americans. Your work is not easy, and we all know. You must have compassion and strength to be there in the middle of the night, when your patient is struggling with pain. You must have persistence and courage to deal with both the patients and families and doctors and staff ALL at the same time.
Many different events are held to celebrate our courageous nurses. Some employers will have a luncheon event planned at the hospital or office. Others go all out and have a fundraiser event planned. Others spend their funds to gift the nurses through promotional products. Three of the top purchased items for nurse’s week are the following:
Tote bags/Lunch bags: Who doesn’t need a tote or a lunch bag! It’s one the bestselling items we offer. Nurses especially love tote bags to carry over any extra items into work that they may need. It’s a MUST!
Drinkware: Anything from a water bottle, to coffee travel tumbler, these are another must have item. Some nurses have to do double shifts and they need the endless coffee and sip of water to stay awake.
Lanyard/Badge Reel: Every health facility requires ID badges to be worn by all staff and visitors. The lanyards or badge reels are a big buy for the Nurses week.
Please join in celebrating the important role nurses play in health care during National Nurses Week, May 6 to 12. And like a lot of people across the nation who are touched and saved by the contributions of 3.1 million registered nurses, we want to say a simple THANK YOU!
